Vintage 1951 C F Martin D-18 (S/N : 120XX2)

This guitar is in very good condition. Minor repairs are done to correct the bridge area and a repair to the side. Fret were dressed and setup was done, all works were done in the USA by a Martin specialist. Double bound D body, spruce top, mahogany sides and back, 14 fret mahogany neck, Brazilian rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, 20 frets, Brazilian rosewood bridge, tortoise plastic pickguard, Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay, Kluson tuners, 1-11/16" nut, 25.4" scale, with thermoplastic HSC (brown lining)

These quintessential workhorses in those periods were nothing short of a miracle of a guitar! Everyone wanted one and orders were backlogged for months in those days! Still built in the original Martin & Co. factory before production was ramped up in 1965. These were built old schooled and with the finest craftsmanship. Their tonal and build were unsurpassed. Famous artists in the likes of Doc Watson, Clarence White and any self-respecting professional just had to have one (or already owned one). Unlike the rosewood version of the dreadnought D28, the D18 were the guitar that did not intimidate the player with it's slightly more economic choice of wood. But, just as powerful in its presence as it's more costly sister without breaking the bank. The crowd soon came to recognise and love it's timbre quality that's associated with so many popular music of it's day. This is a perfect example of the all powerful and LOUD qualities these guitars are known for. This guitar in particular never fails to impress anyone who plays it. It's indeed on the wish-list for many of our customers.
